Welcome to the new josejans.com
I’ve rebuilt this site as a more academic home for the work I’m doing as a PhD student in Political Science at the University of Illinois Chicago and as a Fulbright–MinCiencias Scholar.
The previous version of josejans.com (online since 2018) was primarily a Spanish-language professional site from my years as a public-interest lawyer in Colombia — with the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), the José Alvear Restrepo Lawyers’ Collective (CAJAR), and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH). None of that work has been deleted: it has been re-framed and moved to the Research Archive, where it sits as the empirical foundation of my current research agenda.
What’s new here:
- A dedicated Publications section organized by scholarly category — peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, policy and human rights reports, amicus curiae briefs, and works in progress.
- A Research page that connects my doctoral agenda (transitional justice, rights mobilization, the politics of accountability) to a decade of practice.
- This Blog, which I’ll use for short-form notes on research in progress, teaching, and occasional commentary on Colombian politics and the courts.
